The loading abibily of GRP grating is - due to the use of glassfibre - extremely high. The extent of loading ability however depends on factors such as overall size fitted mesh, height and span.
GRP gratings will only collapse under extreme loads. Nevertheless, it is important (for safety reasons) to take the maximum deflection into account. The maximum allowable deflection is 1% of the span. With a span of 1000 mm, a grid can therefore bend a maximum of 10 mm. Is the deflection too large? Then the thickness must be adjusted or the grating must be additionally supported.
